Norris James (Jim) Blaxall, born November 11, 1928, died April 8, 2017, peacefully, in Calgary, Alberta. Jim is survived by his loving wife Lucille (Lucy), and his children Shauna Hunter (Rob), Norris Blaxall, Melanie Walthall, Luanna Schmelter (Jeff), Burns Blaxall, Lisa Foggin (Rod), and grandchildren Sarah Robertson (Christian), Brad Hunter (Angie), Krista Emrich (TJ), Josh Hunter (Maddy), Adam, Jacob, and Michael Walthall, Mallin, Maya, and Hayden Blaxall, Kira Schmelter, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jim was born in Magrath, Alberta, to Norris and Ina Blaxall. He married his sweetheart Lucy, on July 15, 1954. Jim was very successful in his career, and retired from Calgary Coop as the VP of Human Resources in 1991. He was begged out of retirement by the Alberta Appeals Commission and was with them four years.
He is described by his children and grandchildren as: playful, teasing, steady, patient, positive, supportive, someone who would teach life lessons while helping to gut fish, who would make you laugh while telling made-up legends and hiking stories, who made you feel you could do anything, who always had a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
A funeral will be held at 11:00am Saturday April 15th, 2017 at the Parkland Chapel, 14540 Parkland Blvd SE, Calgary. Viewing from 10:00-10:45am. Graveside service and interment at the Magrath Cemetery at 4:00pm the same day.
